Top Tips on How to Make Deadlines Less Stressful

Everyone, whether you’re in school, college, university or even work, has deadlines. Some bigger than others. Some more important than others. These are some of the tips I have used to get through my deadlines and basically survive uni.

Tip 1: Don’t worry about what you eat.

Since the new year I know quite a lot of people will be making new years’ resolutions to eat healthy and lose weight. With deadlines around the corner you don’t need to be thinking about what you should or shouldn’t be eating, it’s just added stress that you don’t need on top of work stress. Just eat what you want. Obviously don’t go crazy and eat fast food everyday but don’t worry too much about sticking to your diet.

Tip 2: Find something that makes you happy and take a break.

Do something that makes you happy like talking to a friend, family member, playing on a games console or read a book. It will give you something to do to cheer you up and when you are getting to stressed just take a break and do one of them. Even if it is just for a little while.

Tip 3: Have something to look forward to.

If you have something to look forward to, like a holiday or a party or even just a night in or out with the people you care about, it can keep you going and give you something else to count down to instead of the deadline. When the deadline is looming over you, you can just remember that the other thing is also getting nearer and all you have to do is get the work out of the way.

Tip 4: Not everything has to be done right away… as long as it gets done.

There’s always a couple of parts to get done to the work you have to do. Split them up, see which are easy and smaller and which are not so easy and bigger. Do the easier and small stuff first, and then when it comes to the harder and bigger stuff you can spend more time on it and you don’t have to worry about the other stuff because you’ve already done it.

Tip 5: Don’t be afraid to rant

This tip is pretty self-explanatory. But seriously if things are getting on top of you and all you want to do is shout and moan about life… DO IT! Make sure it’s to someone who will listen to and won’t just think your being silly and definitely make sure you ask them if you can first. Some people don’t like being ranted to.
